Hills Bank and Trust Company, 4-H Offer New Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- Students who live in or attend school in 10 southeast Iowa counties may apply for a new scholarship from the Iowa 4-H Foundation. The students need not be 4-H members to apply.

The Hills Bank and Trust Company Leadership Grant is the newest of 70 scholarships offered each year by the Iowa 4-H Foundation. Twenty participants will be selected for the annual program, which is sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company.
The recipients of the scholarship, who will apply during their junior year in high school, will attend nine hours of leadership training sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company during their senior year. Afterward, they will receive a $2,000 scholarship ($500 per semester for two years). The scholarship may be used at any of Iowa's accredited universities, colleges or community colleges.

To be eligible, students must live in or attend school in one of the following Iowa counties: Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine or Washington. The applicants must have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher, and demonstrated leadership, entrepreneurship or other qualities related to community service.
