2002 State 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl Winners Announced
Arlington, Iowa -- The Delaware County Senior Dairy Quiz Bowl Team placed first in the annual 4-H Youth Dairy Quiz Bowl, held June 13 at Starmont High School near Arlington. The members of the Delaware County team will represent Iowa 4-H at the National 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl in Louisville, Ky. in November.
Senior team members from Delaware County include Cara Deutmeyer, Katie Freiburger, Michael Tekippe and Kristi Menson. They are coached by Bob Freiburger and Jennifer Kunde.
Dubuque County won the junior division. Team members include Mark Simon, Danny Kramer, Kristy Demmer and Ted Wolf. Amanda Kass is the team's coach.
Delaware County also won the intermediate division. The team is comprised of Jessica Tekippe, Carrie Weber, Jeff Carroll and Kelly Freiburger. They also are coached by Bob Freiburger and Jennifer Kunde.
The 4-H Youth Dairy Quiz Bowl provides experience for youth to demonstrate their knowledge about the dairy industry. The scores of a written quiz, team questions and toss-up competition are combined to determine the winner of each match in the double-elimination, statewide event. Dairy Farmers of America sponsors the trophies.
