Organic Weed Management Workshop Offered July 1

AMES, Iowa - An Integrated Weed Management Workshop will be offered for organic crop growers on Monday, July 1 at the Northeast Research Farm in Nashua, Iowa. Iowa State University (ISU) Extension Sustainable Agriculture Program and ISU Organic Program are co-sponsoring the event.

Topics to be covered include:

crop rotation,
cultivation techniques,
weed management techniques ,
weed identification and life cycles,
propane flame burners, and
a new vinegar-based herbicide.

The workshop runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $15.00 and includes lunch and handouts. The farm is located near Nashua in Floyd County. To reach the farm, take Highway 218 south from Nashua one mile, go west about 1.5 miles on 290th Street (a gravel road).
