7/24/02 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contacts: Iowa Forestry Groups Offer Trees on Acreages Conference Iowa State University (ISU) Extension, Iowa Tree Farm Committee, Iowa Department of Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Iowa Woodland Owners Association are sponsoring the Trees on Acreages conference. This event is for acreage owners interested in knowing more about the management and care of trees on their property. It will be held Saturday, August 31, 2002, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Tama Hall, Hawkeye Community College, 1501 E. Orange Road, Waterloo. Participants will attend four concurrent workshops. Topics include: Selection of Trees for Acreages; Urban Forestry in the Country; Proper Pruning Techniques; Growing Trees from Seed; Prairies for Acreages; Wildlife and Acreages; Windbreaks for Acreages; Proper Use of Wood; Woodland Wild Flowers and many others. Pre-registration is preferred. Registration is $10 per person before August 20 and increases to $20 per person after August 20. This fee covers morning coffee, lunch and door prizes.
