Pork Regional Conferences will Focus on Finishing Management
AMES, Iowa -- Iowa pork producers are invited to learn more about finishing
management techniques at one of the 2002 Iowa Pork Regional Conferences
scheduled for later this month. Iowa Pork Industry Center at Iowa State
University, Iowa Pork Producers Association and ISU Extension are cosponsoring
the series of five meetings at different sites around the state. The series
runs from Feb. 18- Feb. 22 running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at each site.
Fee is $20 per person for those preregistered or people may register at
the door for $25 each. All fees are payable at the door. The noon meal
is guaranteed for those preregistered.
Some of the speakers and their topics for these programs are Mike Brumm
from the University of Nebraska, Feeder/waterer designs and
New finishing technologies; Joel DeRouchey from Kansas State
University, Feed additives for wean to finish and Post-weaning
nutrition news; and Sue Martin, Risk Management Strategies.
ISU Extension field specialists will demonstrate Group Tracker
software at each site, and additional topics will be included in agendas
at selected sites.
This series of seminar will provide the latest information in several
areas for pork producers involved in finishing operations, said
IPIC director John Mabry. Were pleased to be cosponsoring
the programs with IPPA and hope to see many producers at these five sites.
