8/30/02 Contacts: Woodbury County 4-H Supporter Honored AMES, Iowa -- Kathy Tabke, Moville, received a State 4-H Alumni Award Aug. 24 in Ames. The award honors former 4-H members for their service to 4-H, community leadership, public service and success in their careers. "This is one of the highest honors given to former 4-H members who have continued to provide a significant contribution to Iowa's Extension 4-H Youth Programs in their adult lives," Chuck Morris, associate director of 4-H youth programs at Iowa State University, said. Tabke was a member of the Bronson Hilltoppers 4-H club in Washington County and has been a volunteer leader of the Arlington Future Farmers 4-H Club for several years. She has led several of the club's community service activities, including the Soup and Pie Supper and the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Moville. She also led an effort to re-evaluate the Woodbury County 4-H recognition system, forming a team of volunteers and Extension staff to set goals and develop a plan. Tabke has served as the Northwest Area Coordinator for State Conference
and attended the 1999 National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C. In the
fall of 2001, Tabke was one of three chairpersons of the North Central
Volunteer Leader's Forum, a 4-H volunteer development conference held
in Des Moines. -30- |
