____(Name)____ Takes Part In City Clerk Continuing Education
___(Name)___, ___(Town)___, attended a continuing education program in city management recently at Iowa State University. The three-day Municipal Clerks Academy was conducted by ISU Extension July 24-26 in Ames.
Advanced topics offered in this session included personnel issues, civil service regulations, road contract reporting, use of spreadsheet software, and web page design. A special feature of this year’s academy was a series of sessions on best practices in various areas of city administration.
The program is sponsored by the ISU Extension Office of State and Local Government Programs in conjunction with the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association. Instructors include ISU faculty, extension staff, bonding attorneys, accounting experts and city clerks who have completed the Institute. By attending the academy, city officials increase their knowledge and skills to better serve the citizens of their communities.
