8/1/02 Contacts: Mahaska County 4-H'er Named to State 4-H Council AMES, Iowa -- Local 4-H'er Sarah Smith, Eddyville, was elected to serve on the 2002-2003 State 4-H Council, a group of 40 teen leaders who serve as 4-H ambassadors. She will represent the Southeast Iowa area. Smith was inducted to the state council at the closing ceremonies of
the 2002 Iowa State 4-H Youth Conference June 27. After participating
in ambassador training in mid-July, she began serving as ambassador within
Mahaska County, Southeast Iowa and at various statewide functions. Other
responsibilities of State 4-H Council members include working at the Iowa
State Fair, planning the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference and serving on the
