8/1/02 Contact Iowa Concern launches new Web site DES MOINES -- Iowa State University Extension's Iowa Concern Hotline has a new Web site to serve Iowans. Internet users can go to www.extension.iastate.edu/iowaconcern to access the new site. Margaret VanGinkel, the hotline's coordinator, says the interactive Web site features frequently asked questions (FAQs), one-on-one live chat, links to additional resources and e-mail an expert links. Users also can access information on legal issues, financial concerns, dealing with disasters, stress, health, overcoming adversity and parenting issues. A grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to Iowa State University Extension to Families for Rural Outreach funded the site's development. The Iowa Concern Hotline's toll-free number, (800) 447-1985, remains active. VanGinkel says counselors are available 24 hours a day to talk directly to people about stress, legal situations, financial concerns, and other issues. An attorney is available as well during business hours. If you would like more information about the Iowa Concern Hotline or other ISU Extension programs, call (515) 727-0656. -30- |
