Ames Elementary Students Complete Tree Steward Program

Next time you wonder what type of evergreen is growing in your yard consider consulting an Edwards Elementary fifth grade student. That's right, the fifth graders at this Ames school have successfully finished the Iowa Tree Steward Program for Youth.

On Monday, April 22 the students finished their final training sessions and received their diplomas. The program is offered by Iowa State University Forestry Extension and teaches the importance of trees and forests, how trees grow, tree identification and much more.
