Webster County 4-H Supporter Honored

AMES, Iowa -- Linda Cline, Callender, received a State 4-H Alumni Recognition Aug. 25 in Ames. The award honors former 4-H members for their service to 4-H, community leadership, public service and success in their careers.

Cline is the 4-H program coordinator in Webster County. She also has worked as a veterinary technician.

Cline was a nine-year 4-H member in Carroll County. She currently serves 4-H as a volunteer, donor, fair judge, cat project leader and chaperone for many youth events such as National 4-H Congress, Citizenship-Washington Focus and the State 4-H Youth Conference.

She was an adult delegate to the 2000 National 4-H Conference and has served on the Webster County Fair Board. In 1988 she received the Webster County 4-H alumni award. She also serves as co-chair of the program committee for the North Central Regional Volunteer Forum to be held in Des Moines this November.

"As a 4-H'er I remember exhibiting livestock, completing projects and giving presentations," Cline recalled. "This must be where I learned not to fear speaking in front of groups. Today, 4-H gives me the opportunity to work with youth and encourage them to be their best."

In her community, Cline has been active with Kiwanis, her church and the Salvation Army. She is the chair of the youth services committee, where she helps make decisions on funding requests.

Cline and her husband Darrel live in rural Callender.
