Hamilton County 4-H Supporter Honored

AMES, Iowa -- Everett Asmus, Webster City, received a State Honorary 4-H Member Recognition award Aug. 25 in Ames. The award honors adults who have not been 4-H members for their service to 4-H, community leadership, public service and success in their chosen careers. The award is presented at the annual state 4-H recognition program.

Asmus has served Iowa 4-H in a variety of ways. He is completing his sixth year as a trustee of the Iowa 4-H Foundation and serves as co-chair of the foundation's budget and finance committee. On the county level, Asmus is an active member of the Hamilton County 4-H Foundation.

Asmus, his wife Sheryl, and their families, in cooperation with the Iowa 4-H Foundation, have established the Persinger-Asmus 4-H Scholarship, which is given annually. His family has played host to youth from Norway as part of the USA-Norske 4-H Exchange Program and his three children Brian, Jill and Todd have visited Norway through the program.

A financial officer for Farm Services of America in Webster City, Asmus is actively involved with Kiwanis and his church. He also has served as a 4-H leader, county fair superintendent, county soil commissioner and promotion committee member for the Webster City Middle School addition.
