10/24/01 Contacts: Winter Sheep ICN Programs Offered AMES, Iowa -- Iowa sheep producers are invited to attend the first of four sheep programs delivered via the Iowa Communications Network (ICN) on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 7 to 10 p.m. The evening's featured program will cover the Scrapie Eradication program and mandatory identification that is required beginning Nov. 19. Drs. Nolan Hartwig and Suelee Robbe, Iowa State University veterinarians; Dr. Sharon Fairchild of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal Plant Health Inspection Service, and Dr. Pam Smith of Iowa Veterinary Services will be on a question and answer panel. The Scrapie Eradication program requires that all breeding animals over 18 months of age be identified for interstate commerce. Additionally, the Iowa Sheep Industry Association will conduct its annual meeting as part of the ICN program. Future programs are set for Nov. 27, Dec. 11 and Jan. 8. The Winter Sheep ICN programs are sponsored by the Iowa Sheep and Wool Promotion Board and Iowa State University. Many ICN locations have changed this year, so attendees need to contact their local county ISU Extension office for address of the closest ICN site.
