3/26/01 Contacts: Attend Growing in the Garden At 4-H Camp With A Youngster AMES, Iowa -- Children in grades K through 3 can get their hands dirty while they discover their world at the 2001 4-H camp. Growing in the Garden, in which youngsters learn to plant, play and explore the outdoors, is just one of several sessions offered at this year's camp. The theme of the 2001 4-H camp is Discover Your World. A variety of camps, including Growing in the Garden, are available to students in kindergarten through high school as well as adults. Each youth who attends Growing in the Garden will bring an adult. They will attend a garden party at the end of camp. Growing in the Garden also offers a teacher's training program. 4-H camp, held at the Iowa Education and Natural Resources Center near Madrid, begins in early June and runs throughout the summer. Early bird registration is due May 15; a late fee will be charged after that date. The Iowa Education and Natural Resources Center is accredited by the American Camping Association. Iowa State University Extension staff conduct the sessions with the help of professionals and students.
