3/9/01 Contacts: Advanced Swine Reproductive Management Seminars Scheduled AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) will present a series of advanced swine reproductive management seminars at four locations March 26-29. Program sites and dates are: March 26, NIACC campus at Mason City; March 27, St. Patrick's Hall at Winthrop; March 28, Kalonial Inn at Kalona; and March 29, Wallace Learning Center at Lewis. The one-day programs will feature John Mabry and Tom Baas, Iowa State University (ISU) breeding and genetics specialists, and Don Levis, reproductive management specialist from the University of Nebraska. Other speakers at each site will present information from their areas of expertise. The agenda at each location includes sessions on how to avoid the summer slump in conception rates, boar fertility, financial and production impacts of new reproductive technology, artificial insemination to make genetic progress and a review of emerging reproductive technologies. ISU Extension livestock field specialists are coordinating the programs and also will present information during the seminars. Preregistration before March 21 is $35 and includes lunch and resource materials. Registration at the door is $45 and meal availability is not guaranteed.
