3/6/01 Contacts: ICN Program to Feature ISU Swine Nutrition Research Results AMES, Iowa -- Swine producers who are interested in the latest swine nutrition research information should attend the Iowa Communications Network program, "Food for Thought on Feeding for Profit," on March 26. The program, sponsored by Iowa Pork Industry Center, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Iowa Pork Producers Association, will provide information on several swine nutrition topics. ISU swine nutritionist Tim Stahly will present an overview of current ISU research. ISU Extension swine specialist Tom Baas will talk about meat quality issues relating to Paylean and the implications of using Paylean in diets of 4-H/FFA show animals. Extension swine specialist Palmer Holden will speak on fiber in gestation diets and using a feed consumption budget. ISU Extension swine field specialist Larry McMullen will have results of a demonstration project on using phytase to reduce the phosphorus content of manure. After the presentations, the speakers will answer questions from the audience. The program will run from 7:30 to 9 p.m. It originates from the ISU campus. There is no cost to attend the program.
