State 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl Winners Announced
Arlington, Iowa -- The Fayette County Senior Dairy Quiz Bowl Team placed first in the annual 4-H Youth Dairy Quiz Bowl, held June 14 at Starmont High School. The members of the Fayette County team will represent Iowa 4-H at the National 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl in Louisville, Ky. in November.
Scores from a written quiz, team questions, and toss-up competition determined the winner of each match in the double elimination event.
The 1st place Senior Quiz Bowl Team from Fayette County included: Greg Bodensteiner, Andrew Vagts, Jacklyn Hamlett, Stacey Steinlage and Jason Steinlage. Coaches were Marilyn Steffens and Connie Stewart.

2nd place, Dubuque County, team members included Amanda Arlen, Leigh Ann Koopman, Carrier Riniker and Jeremy Simon. Coaches were Jeff Hammerand, Amanda Kass and Bill Rauen.
3rd place, Delaware County, team members included Jeff Carroll, Katie Freiburger, Katie Hoffman and Mike TeKippe. Coaches were Bob Freiburger and Dave Kunde.
4th place, Dubuque County, team members included Melissa Johnson, Tim Rauen, Matt Simon and Kurt Wolf. Coaches were Jeff Hammerand, Amanda Kass and Bill Rauen.
The event also provided an opportunity for younger youths to demonstrate their knowledge about the dairy industry. One junior team, as well as intermediate teams, also competed in the event.
*Junior quiz bowl team results:
1st place, Clayton and Fayette counties, team members included Matt Henkes, Katie Steinlage and Dan Stewart. Coaches were Heidi DeGier, Marilyn Steffens and Connie Stewart.
Intermediate quiz bowl results:
1st place, Fayette County, team members included Brittney Lantsky, Emily Schmitt, Josh Sparrgrove, Michael Stewart and Jacob Worden. Coaches were Marilyn Steffens and Connie Stewart.
2nd place, Clayton County, team members included Leah Henkes, Megan Kregel, Logan Shaw and Anna Troester. The team was coached by Heidi De Gier.
3rd place, Delaware County, team members included Nathan Carroll, Kelly Freiburger, Pat Freiburger and Jessica TeKippe. Coaches were Bob Freiburger and Dave Kunde.
4th place, Dubuque County, team members included Kayla Demmer, Kyle Demmer, Jeff Hammerand and Ted Wolf. Coaches were Jeff Hammerand, Amnanda Kass and Bill Rauen.
