Mills County 4-H'ers Compete In National Livestock Judging Contest

Four Mills County 4-H'ers competed at the National 4-H Livestock Judging Contest at the North American International Livestock Exposition Louisville, Ky. in November. The team earned the right to compete in Louisville after placing first at the state livestock judging contest.

The team members, Josh Greiner, Tim Grindle, Jimmy Johnson and Shari Sell, were coached by Doug Christensen and assisted by Nathan Mass. The competition consisted of placing classes of the different livestock breeds and giving reasons about their placings.

"I've had judging teams compete in national contests at Louisville, Denver and Kansas City," Christensen said. "Without a doubt, the level of competition at the Louisville contest is unparalleled. Team members not only had a good time, but it was also a great educational experience for them."

The trip was sponsored by the Iowa 4-H Foundation Animal Science Endowment, Vigortone Agricultural Products and ConAgra.
