Field Crop Scout Schools held in March

AMES, Iowa - If you plan to work as a crop scout, you will want to attend one of the upcoming Iowa State University field crop scout schools. You'll get an overview of basic diagnostic skills required for recognizing field crop problems.

Field crop scout schools will be held on Wednesday, March 21, and Saturday, March 24 in the Scheman Building at the Iowa State Center in Ames. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. with sessions beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Lectures and workshops will provide hands-on practice with plant materials, soils, diseases and insects.

Each school is limited to 120 participants who must be preregistered to attend; spots will not be reserved. The registration form is posted on the Web at http://extension.agron.iastate.edu/aged.

The fee for scouts is $60 if received by March 14 (March 21 scout school) or by March 16 (March 24 scout school) and includes written materials and lunch. After these dates, the preregistration fee is $80. Managers may attend the sessions with their scouts at a reduced cost and will receive an alternate packet of materials. The fee for managers is $30 if received by March 14 (March 21 scout school) or by March 16 (March 24 scout school) and includes lunch. After these dates, the preregistration fee is $40.

Preregistration material may be faxed with a credit card (mastercard, visa or discover only), to (515) 294-1311 or be mailed along with a check or credit card information. Contact Jerolyne, Brent or Richard for more information on preregistration by calling (515) 294-6429.
