4-H Horse Jamboree Set for April 7 and 8

AMES, Iowa -- Attention horse lovers! The 4-H Horse Jamboree is a great way to learn more about horses while having fun. The 4-H Horse Jamboree will be held in conjunction with the Iowa Horse Fair April 7 and 8 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

"The Horse Jamboree is a great opportunity for young people to learn about the different parts of the equine industry," said 4-H specialist Denise Schwab. "Many of the activities do not require a horse or participation in 4-H."

The activities include a horse quiz bowl, riding clinics, public speaking, a poster contest, team grooming, horse painting, photography, drawing, writing and a horse demonstration talk. Participants must be between the ages of 9 and 18.

Entries are due March 1 to Denise Schwab, 33 Curtiss Hall, Iowa State University, Ames, IA 50011.

For more information or an entry form, contact your Iowa State University Extension county office.
