9/21/00 Contacts: Adams County Forestry Field Day Set AMES, Iowa - Iowans interested in learning more about their woodland resources have an opportunity to learn firsthand at several forestry field days scheduled in October, including one in Adams County on Oct. 13. "Topics covered at the field days include improvement techniques for woodland resources and instructions about tree resource expansions," said Paul Wray, Iowa State University Extension forestry specialist. "The talks will vary depending on the local needs for the area." The Oct. 13 program begins at 1 p.m. at the Lake Icaria Modern Campground. To get to the field day drive north of Corning on Highway 148 to N28; head east on N28 for 0.7 miles to Juniper, head north on Juniper to the modern campground. Other field days will be available throughout the state on these dates and locations: Oct. 3, Lee County; Oct. 4, Butler County; Oct. 5, Fayette County, Tree Farm Field Day; Oct. 6, Polk County; Oct. 10, Allamakee County and Oct. 17, Jackson County. The field day program is designed for private woodland owners, public land managers, forestry consultants and service providers or anyone interested in forestry issues. "You will become more knowledgeable about how to manage tree resources, and you will meet resource professionals and other woodland owners," Wray said. The program is sponsored by ISU Extension, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and county conservation boards.
