Delaware County 4-H Supporter Honored

AMES, Iowa -- Donna Kunde, Manchester, received a State 4-H Alumni Recognition award Aug. 26 in Ames. The award honors former 4-H members for their service to 4-H, community leadership, public service and success in their careers.

Kunde is an office manager at Roeder Law Firm and works on her family farm. She was a member of 4-H for nine years in Delaware County. She currently serves 4-H as a volunteer leader, project leader, resource person, donor and member of both the county and fair committees.

"I believe 4-H impacts us in many ways," Kunde said. "For me personally, the opportunity to learn leadership skills has helped me throughout my life. Learning to conduct meetings, facilitate groups, and organizing are all skills we need to use throughout life. There was no other forum better for rural youth to practice leadership."

In her community, Kunde uses her leadership skills in her church, library, local schools and food pantry. She has served on the Maquoketa Valley School Board for six years, organized the Manchester Friends of the Library and helped write a grant proposal for $10,000 for the Delaware County Food Pantry.

Kunde and husband David are the parents of four children.
