Tractors Top Cause of 1999 Farm-Related Deaths

Nearly half of all farm deaths reported in Iowa last year involved a tractor. That's 24 Iowans who lost their lives while they were driving, riding or working around a tractor.

Those deaths all had one thing in common: they could have been prevented. Reduce your risks by operating tractors with rollover protection. Make sure everyone is trained, and never allow riders on a tractor. Make this year one to remember--for safety's sake.

This message is brought to you by Iowa State University Extension's Safe Farm program, helping to make Iowa farms a safer place to live and work.
