10/17/00 Contacts: AgriTalk Farm Policy College Tour to Stop at Iowa State University AMES, Iowa -- AgriTalk, a nationally syndicated radio talk show for and about rural America, is sponsoring a farm policy forum titled "Ag Policy For A New Generation" on the campus of Iowa State University Friday, Oct. 27, from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. The event will be hosted by Professor Mark Edelman's 460 Agricultural Policy Class and will held in Lush Auditorium, Kildee Hall. Panelists at the farm policy discussion will include Republican Senator Chuck Grassley and Democratic Congressman Leonard Boswell, members of the Senate and House Agriculture Committees respectively. They will be joined in the discussion by Prof. Edelman, a public policy economist at ISU. The event is free and open to all students and faculty on campus, as well as the general public. AgriTalk's host, Ken Root, will moderate the discussion. Students and the audience will have ample opportunity to ask questions and offer their views on the future of agricultural policy. AgriTalk is typically a live, caller-driven, weekday talk show that is syndicated on 128 radio stations in 32 states, including 17 affiliates in Iowa. It is also broadcast via the Internet at www.agritalk.com. However, with the college tour programs, AgriTalk will tape the dialogue from the Oct. 27 agricultural policy class forum and edit it into an AgriTalk show that will air at a later date. The Iowa State tour stop program will air Monday, Nov. 20. Recent high profile guests have included presidential candidates Al Gore and George W. Bush; Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura; Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts, former chair of the House Agriculture Committee; Baseball Hall of Famer and Texas cattleman Nolan Ryan; and ABC News correspondent and rancher Sam Donaldson.
