10/16/00 Contacts: Iowa 4-H Foundation Announces New Members, Executive Board AMES, Iowa -- Glen Mente, Muscatine, was named the new president of the Iowa 4-H Foundation during the organization's annual meeting Sept. 15. Mente is a retired senior vice president of nutrition and product development for Kent Feeds Inc. He was a 4-H member and leader for 15 years and continues to be actively involved in community and statewide volunteer activities. Mente will serve a one-year term as president. Mente is one of 11 trustees named to the 2000-01 executive committee. Additional executive committee members are: Joe Kurth, director of Iowa 4-H Youth Development programs, Ames; Florine Swanson, Iowa 4-H Foundation executive director, Galt; Donna Christensen-Mores, president-elect, Harlan; Tim Smith, past president, Iowa City; Janet Hermanson, Story City; Linda Holmquist, Cedar Rapids; Barbara Sexton, Rockwell City; Meredith McHone-Pierce, Adel; Jacque Andrew, Jefferson; Dean Holst, Fairfield; Everett Asmus, Webster City; and George Moriarty, Spencer. During the annual meeting eight new members were named to the foundation. They are: Patricia Beck, Buckingham; Cynthia Thorland, Des Moines; Mitch Hoyer, Humboldt; Kent Baker, Newton; Judith Guttau, Council Bluffs; and Ashley Glade, Guthrie Center; John Greaves, Des Moines; and Andrew Olson, Ridgeway. Retiring board members are: Jurine Borton-Moore, Mt. Vernon; Don Nickerson, West Des Moines; Joe Yedlik, Anamosa; Richard Godfrey, Henderson; Margaret Mishler, Solon; Jeremy Priester, Swea City; Nina Swan-Kohler, Cedar Rapids; and Gary Vincent, Carlisle. |
