10/16/00 Contacts: Polk County 4-H'ers Attend 4-H Week Signing Ceremony Polk County 4-H'ers Nick Griffeon, Autumn Griffeon and Christine Vols, all of Ankeny, were on hand as Gov. Tom Vilsack signed a proclamation declaring Oct. 1 to 7 as 4-H Youth Development Week in Iowa. The designation was in conjunction with National 4-H Week, also Oct. 1-7. In proclaiming 4-H Youth Development Week in Iowa, Vilsack noted that 4-H helps Iowa youth develop life skills, provides science-based information through the cooperation of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Iowa State University Extension and promotes healthy mental, physical and social habits.
