10/9/00 Contacts: Iowa Farm Outlook Web Site Beneficial During Harvest Time AMES, Iowa -- As the harvest season draws to a close and producers are deciding when to market their crops, Iowa State University Extension offers a valuable resource that could come in handy. The Iowa Farm Outlook Newsletter is produced twice a month for the Web and provides a written analysis of the current market information and farm marketing decisions. The Iowa Farm Outlook Chartbook provides a historic perspective of farm markets with some information dating back to the early 1900s. It specifically covers production and price data for corn, soybeans, cattle and hogs. Also included is information on the general economy and other miscellaneous whole farm issues in the form of charts and graphs. "The chartbook is helpful when evaluating market plans," said John Lawrence, livestock economist. "It helps put the planning decisions into perspective when farmers are making marketing or investment decisions." The Iowa Farm Outlook Newsletter and Chartbook can be found on the Web at: http://www.econ.iastate.edu/outreach/agriculture/ listed under "Periodicals." eh ml: isufarm |
