11/17/00 Contacts: Iowa 4-H'er To Present Workshop At Conference Hosted By Vice President Gore AMES, Iowa -- Angie Groh, a 16-year-old 4-H member from Thornton, Iowa, will be a workshop presenter at the ninth annual Family Re-Union Conference. Vice-President Al Gore and his wife Tipper will play host to the conference, which will be held Nov. 20 in Nashville, Tenn. The theme for this year's conference is Families and Seniors Across the Generations. Groh's workshop will highlight her involvement in the Teens Teaching Technology program in which teens help senior citizens access the government's Medicare Web site and learn computer skills. She will present her workshop to the conference's invited guests. Groh, who is a member of the Iowa Youth Technology Team, has been instrumental in organizing workshops across the state and at the national level. "The 4-H'ers on the Iowa Youth Technology Team volunteer their time and talents to help promote 4-H and technology," said Steve Truby, 4-H youth specialist and leader of the Iowa Youth Technology Team. One of the team's goals is to provide a service to an individual or a group. Groh, along with other team members, also has been involved in training many youths, adults, extension staff, teachers and community leaders .
