11/8/00 Contacts: Iowa Forage Conference Features Evening Session AMES, Iowa -- Producers interested in maximizing returns from Iowa's forage acres should attend this year's Iowa Forage Conference, scheduled for Nov. 20-21 at the Vermeer Global Pavilion, Pella, Iowa. Forage management topics including new technology, ideal forages for different types of livestock and nutrient management will be discussed, according to Joe Sellers, Iowa State University Extension livestock field specialist. New for 2000, the conference will include an evening session covering several basic management practices. Sponsored by the Iowa Forage and Grasslands Council, the Iowa Beef Center, the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, Vermeer Corporation and ISU Extension this event also will feature a trade show in the pavilion arena, showcasing companies marketing various forage products and equipment. Pre-registration for the entire two-day event is $25 for current Iowa Forage and Grassland Council members, and includes break food, proceedings and a banquet. Part-time producers and other farmers who are interested in forage management, but can attend only the evening portion of the program, can participate at reduced registration fee of $5, payable at the door.
