How about the use of farm nutrients and manures in Iowa? What about Iowa's water quality? Want to learn more? John Creswell, Iowa State University is leading an effort for ISU Extension called the "Nutrient Management Education Project." As part of the project, Creswell will speak to Iowans about the topic of fertilizers and farm nutrients during a weekly radio series called the "Nutrient Management Minute." Creswell will discuss plant nutrients used in Iowa, including commercial fertilizers as well as nutrients in animal manures. "Listeners will hear the latest, research-based 'Best Management Practices' from Iowa State University that keep lawns green, gardens healthy and help Iowa's farmers profit without wasting money and endangering water quality," Creswell said. To listen to a "Nutrient Management Minute," visit the project Web site at: http://extension.agron.iastate.edu/nmit/. ISU Extension's Nutrient Management Education Project is a cooperative effort of several institutions and agencies -- both public and private -- and seeks to tell both urban and rural Iowans what they need to know to employ best management practices from their lawns and gardens to Iowa's 32.8 million acres of land used in agriculture.
