4-H Camp Registration Under Way

AMES, Iowa -- Registration is under way for the 2000 series of Iowa 4-H camps, "Discover Your World." This year's camps offer something for everyone, including gardening , horses and wilderness adventures. Camps are available for youth from kindergarten through high school; however, some may require children to be accompanied by an adult. Camps for teachers, 4-H leaders and other adults also are available.

The camps vary in length from two to 10 days and all include overnight experiences. Registration fees vary by camp. Registration for all camps is due May 20. A fee of $20 will be charged after May 20. Financial assistance is available; applications must be received by May 15.

Most of the camps are held at the Iowa 4-H Education and Natural Resources Center near Madrid, which is accredited by the American Camping Association. Iowa State University Extension staff conduct the camps, with the help of professionals and students.
