6/19/00 Contacts: ICN Program Will Focus on Pseudorabies Regulation and Impact AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) at Iowa State University invites pork producers to learn more about Iowa pseudorabies (PRV) regulations at an Iowa Communications Network (ICN) program on Thursday, June 29. ISU Extension swine veterinarian James McKean will present information on changes in state PRV regulations including vaccination requirements and movement of infected animals. He will review the rules and describe how various scenarios could affect individual operations, and answer questions from the audience. McKean also is IPIC associate director. Alan Vontalge, ISU Extension livestock economist, will provide a look at the June 23 USDA Hogs and Pigs Report including possible trends and significance of the numbers in the report. Time for discussion will be provided. There is no cost to attend the program. It will run from 8-9:30 p.m. and originates from the Iowa State University campus.
