Iowa 4-H Foundation Inducts Two New Members into Honor Court AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa 4-H Foundation inducted two new members into the Iowa 4-H Foundation Honor Court at its 50th Anniversary Celebration June 18. They are Loren Kruse and Robert Skinner. "The Iowa 4-H Foundation has established an Honor Court to recognize individuals whose contributions to the Iowa 4-H Foundation are exemplary," said Florine Swanson, executive director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation. "Selection for the award is based on development of life skills, three or more years of service as an Iowa 4-H Foundation trustee, volunteer or Iowa State University Extension staff member, and significant contribution of either time or money to the foundation." Loren Kruse is the managing editor of Successful Farming magazine. While growing up, Kruse was an active 4-H member in Grundy County. One of his 4-H highlights includes being awarded a blue ribbon for his team presentation at the Iowa State Fair. From 1989 to 1996 he served as a trustee for the Iowa 4-H Foundation and was elected president from 1994 to 1995. He also served on the "Imagine Together" capital campaign committee which raised more than $3.5 million and he chaired the Strategic Planning Committee for the Iowa 4-H Education and Natural Resources Center. In 1998 he was awarded the Iowa 4-H Alumni Award. Kruse also serves as vice chairman of the board for Living History Farms in Urbandale. He previously served on the Iowa State University Extension Advisory Board and the National Foundation Board for Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. Loren and his wife, Elizabeth Anderson, have a son, John, and daughter, Kate. They live in Ankeny. Robert Skinner served as executive director of the Iowa Grain and Feed Association and Iowa Seed Association for 32 years. Skinner was a member of 4-H while growing up in Ringgold County. He served on the Iowa 4-H Foundation board and was the second volunteer president from 1984 to 1985. Skinner was a member of the committee that looked at restructuring the foundation in the early 1980s and led to the hiring of the first full-time executive director. He also held numerous positions in the Iowa Society of Association Executives, American Society of Association Executives, Association Committee, Agribusiness and Rural Affairs Committee, Governor's Vocational-Technical Education Advisory Committee and Dean's Advisory Committee for the College of Agriculture at Iowa State. He also was director of the Iowa State University Memorial Union. Bob and his wife, Mary, currently reside in Urbandale.
