Community Visioning Program and Informational Workshops Announced MARION, Iowa -- Iowa's smaller communities are the focus of a program announced Feb. 23 by Iowa State University Extension Landscape Architecture, in partnership with Trees Forever. The Iowa's Living Roadways Community Visioning Program: A Transportation Enhancement Program is designed to help communities with populations under 10,000 1) gain an understanding of the community and its landscape, 2) create concept plans to enhance community transportation corridors, and 3) develop a strategy to implement those concepts. This program is funded by the Iowa Department of Transportation in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration. Applications for this program are now being accepted and can be obtained by calling Trees Forever at 1-800-369-1269. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 14, 2000. Community representatives are encouraged to attend an informational meeting in their area to learn more about the program and to receive free assistance completing their applications. Meeting times and locations are: Thursday, Feb. 24, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Since 1996, 45 Iowa communities have participated in the Iowa's Living Roadways Community Visioning Program.
