Field Crop Scout Schools held in March and April

AMES, Iowa -- If you plan to work as a crop scout, you may want to attend one of the upcoming Iowa State University field crop scout schools. You'll get an overview of basic diagnostic skills required for recognizing field crop problems.

Field crop scout schools will be held on March 28 and April 8 in the Scheman Building at the Iowa State Center in Ames. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and sessions end at 5 p.m. Lectures and workshops will provide hands-on practice with plant materials, soils, diseases and insects.

Each school is limited to 150 participants who must be preregistered to attend; spots will not be reserved. The registration form is posted on the Web at http://extension.agron.iastate.edu/aged

The fee is $55 if received by March 21 (March Scout School) or by March 31 (April Scout School) and includes written materials and lunch. After these dates, the preregistration fee is $75. Preregistration material should not be faxed and must be accompanied by a check. Contact Jerolyne, Brent or Richard for more information on preregistration by calling (515) 294-6429.

Field crop scout schools are sponsored by the ISU Integrated Pest Management Program and the departments of Agronomy, Entomology and Plant Pathology.
