2/22/00 Contacts: March 3 ICN Offered on Pork Contracts AMES, Iowa -- Pork producers, lenders and other hog industry professionals are invited to participate in a March 3 Iowa Communications Network program. This program focuses on production and marketing contracts, including information on how to read a contract and determine whether it is right for your operation. The program is sponsored by the Iowa Pork Industry Center, Iowa State University Extension, Iowa Pork Producers Association and the National Pork Producers Council. Keynote speaker is Laura Cheney, agricultural economist from Michigan State University. Cheney has focused on issues of vertical integration and contracting in the pork and poultry industries, and her research and extension responsibilities at MSU include a significant emphasis on the pork industry. The ICN program will be held at about 20 sites throughout the state from 9:30-11:30 a.m. It will originate from the Wallace Research Farm near Lewis.
