6th Annual Iowa Local Food System Conference Celebrates Progress AMES, Iowa -- The 6th Annual Iowa Local Food System Conference is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 27, in Iowa City. This year's conference theme of "From Shoots to Roots: Exploring the Growth of Iowa's Local Food Efforts" will be carried out through workshops, displays and an interactive discussion facilitated by Lorna Butler, Iowa State University Henry A. Wallace Sustainable Agriculture chair. There also will be an exhibit area featuring displays of farms and projects engaged in creating Iowa's local food system. "It will take all Iowans to raise up a new, local food system," said Jan Libbey, conference coordinator. "This conference gives the many local food systems a time to take stock of efforts, celebrate and focus on the needs as the work continues." The conference is being held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church located on 2301 E. Court St. Registration cost is $15 and there is a potluck lunch.
