Apply For An Agricultural Grant Through SARE
AMES, Iowa -- The North Central Region (NCR) Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program has funds available to support on-farm research, demonstration and education in the enhancement of crop, horticulture, livestock or forestry systems that may help producers attain more sustainable and competitive operations. Iowa producers are encouraged to apply.
"Our producers have good ideas that need to be researched or demonstrated and SARE grants offer money to help them implement these new ideas that are so vital to the future of agriculture in Iowa," said Jerry DeWitt, Iowa State University sustainable agriculture extension coordinator.
Iowa producers can work individually or team up with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, ISU Extension, community colleges or other partners and apply for funding. "Applications that combine good, practical ideas, strong partnerships and the potential to show an impact can be very competitive," said DeWitt. Check the SARE Web site at www.sare.org/ to get more information on Iowa-funded projects.
Funding for selected proposals will be available in fall 2001. Preproposals are due Sept. 8, 2000.
