900 Youth Can't Be Wrong

AMES, Iowa -- More than 900 youth attended the 1999 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference at Iowa State University last summer. Be sure to save your spot in the summer sun at the 2000 conference, "A Time to Shine."

Youth at the 2000 conference, which will be held June 20-22, will have the chance to make new friends as they attend workshops such as exploration of the world of plastics, fabric design and swing dancing. In addition to workshops, speakers will challenge the youths' way of thinking. Craig Hillier will try to teach individuals how to "stretch themselves" through respect and rethinking their limitations. David Williamson will provide insight about living and working creatively.

Social events at the convention will include all youth registered for the conference, as well as youth from the animal science Roundup and "Touch the Land." These events include dances, games, scavenger hunts and a casino night.

The 2000 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference registration deadline is May 15 and the cost is $95, which includes meals and housing. For more information, contact the ISU Extension office in your county.
