Iowa Pork Industry Center Launches New Web Site

AMES, Iowa - People looking for information on the Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) and its commitment to helping Iowa pork producers should check out the center's new World Wide Web site located at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/ipic.

As an official Iowa State University (ISU) center, IPIC is intended to be the umbrella organization for all pork and swine-related activities at ISU. The Web site reflects this inclusive nature by featuring IPIC programs, events and people, and providing links to additional sources of information for pork producers, consumers and the general public.

In addition to basic informational pages, the IPIC site has links to several calendars associated with ISU. For example, click on "calendar" in the ISU Extension logo on any page in the IPIC site and the user will be transferred to the calendar for agriculture-related Extension events throughout the state. Programs sponsored by various commodity organizations are listed on the "Upcoming events" page, along with links for more specific information where appropriate.

Plans for the IPIC Web site include providing on-line registration for IPIC seminars, easy access to the annual Swine Research Reports and links to timely news releases from IPIC and ISU.

IPIC and ISU Extension cooperate on providing educational opportunities to Iowa pork producers through a variety of methods, including semi-annual seminars and quarterly Iowa Communications Network programs. This new Web site offers information about these sessions in an easily read format.
