3/2/99 Contacts: Field Crop Scout Schools in March and April AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa State University Integrated Pest Management Program and the Departments of Agronomy, Entomology and Plant Pathology are sponsoring Field Crop Scout Schools on March 20 and April 10. Scout School is designed to provide an overview of basic diagnostic skills required for recognizing field crop problems to individuals who have no previous scouting experience and who plan to work as crop scouts. The program consists of lectures and workshops that provide hands-on practice with plant materials, soils, diseases and insects. These one-day schools will be held in the Scheman Building at the Iowa State Center in Ames. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and sessions end at 5 p.m. Each school is limited to 150 participants who must be preregistered to attend; spots will not be reserved. The fee is $55 if received by March 12 (March Scout School) or by April 2 (April Scout School) and includes written materials and lunch. After these dates, the preregistration fee is $75.
