Pork Producers Invited to July 1 ICN Program
AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) at Iowa State University (ISU) invites pork producers to a Thursday, July 1, Iowa Communications Network (ICN) program featuring information on market trends, possible federal price reporting legislation and activities related to the recently approved state price reporting legislation. The program will run from 8-9:30 p.m. and originates from the Iowa State University campus.
John Lawrence, ISU Extension agricultural economist, will provide an update on the June 25 USDA Hogs & Pigs Report, including possible trends and implications of the numbers in the report. Jay Johnson, of the central Iowa office of the Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) of the USDA, will present information on efforts of that office in the areas of price discovery and the future of federal price reporting legislation. Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Brent Halling will explain his department's value-added and loan support activities, and work to support Iowa's pork producers. Time for questions and discussion will be provided.
