Celebrity Golf Packages Featured in 4-H Auction

AMES, Iowa &endash; Tee times with three celebrities will go to the highest bidders at the third annual "Going for the Green" benefit auction hosted by the Iowa 4-H Foundation July 19.

How about 18 holes at the Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines accompanied by two of your best friends and Johnny Orr? Perhaps you'd rather play with Hayden Fry at Finkbine or Fred Hoiberg at Veenker.

All three of these celebrity golf packages are among a total of 14 golf packages that will be auctioned on Monday, July 19, at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines. The other participating courses include Amana Colonies; Bos Landen, Pella; Briarwood, Ankeny; Brooks, Okoboji; Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; Elmcrest, Cedar Rapids; Geneva Golf and Country Club; Glynns Creek, Davenport; Lake Panorama National; Ottumwa Country Club; and Timber Line, Dubuque. All golf packages include green fees and carts for four players.

Proceeds from the 4-H auction benefit the 120,000 Iowa youth served by the Iowa State University Extension 4-H Youth Development program. Bidders need not be present. Bids will be accepted by phone until 12 noon on Monday, July 19. The 4-H auction is held in conjunction with the "Going for the Green" golf tournament at Wakonda.

For more information about the tournament or to place a bid on an auction item call the Iowa 4-H Foundation at (515) 294-1537.
