Pork Producers Invited to Jan. 6 ICN Program

AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) at Iowa State University invites pork producers to a Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, Iowa Communications Network (ICN) program featuring information on a new producer-owned cooperative and potential hog market trends.

Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) task force member Roger Coon will provide information on that group's decision to create a producer-owned cooperative. IPPA consultant Mike Doyle will explain the results of retail research done for the task force. ISU economist James Kliebenstein will describe the results of an IPPA-sponsored producer survey which focused on marketing programs and methods used by Iowa pork producers, and ISU economist John Lawrence will present an update on the Dec. 28 USDA Hogs & Pigs Report. Time for questions and discussion will be provided.
