8/18/99 Contacts: "Finding Money in the Hog Market" seminar set by IPIC AMES, Iowa - Pork producers who want to learn how to manage risk, add value and increase income should attend the Iowa Pork Industry Center's (IPIC) upcoming seminar, "Finding Money in the Hog Market, $trategies for You." The program is cosponsored by Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and the Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) and will take place Aug. 31 at the Scheman Building in the Iowa State Center in Ames. Topics will range from marketing plan development to the use of futures marketing strategies. Speakers include Kevin Maher of E-Markets in Ames, Gary Malenke of Sioux-Preme Pack in Sioux Center and representatives of three successful Iowa-based value-added livestock groups. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The program begins at 9:30 a.m. and will end about 4 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, which includes the noon meal and morning and afternoon refreshments.
