__(Name)__ Attends Advanced City Clerk Professional Training
__(Name)__, __(town)__, attended the Advanced Academy for City Clerks at Iowa State University recently. The two-day program was conducted by ISU Extension July 21-23 in Ames.
Training topics covered a variety of issues facing city clerks, including working with city councils, codification and licensing in the clerk's office, working with boards and commissions and nuisance abatement strategies. The sessions also covered an overview of the internet, an overview of Microsoft Office focusing on the Excel spreadsheet program, and creating web pages.
The keynote speaker, Chris Muldoon, addressed the tough topic of "Promoting Yourself" with tough tips, questions and humor. 'Team Power" and "Conscious Collaborator" were motivational messages helping clerks deal with professional and personal needs.
Instructors included ISU Extension staff from the state and local government and communities programs, city clerks, Iowa League of Cities officials and the the keynote speaker. Participants in the City Clerks Advanced Academy will have the opportunity to attend again next July.
