__(Name)__ Receives Advanced City Clerk Training
__(Name)__ __(Town)__ completed the second session of a three-part curriculum in city management recently at Iowa State University. The five-day program was conducted by ISU Extension July 19-23 in Ames.
Topics for the session ranged from use of computers in city government to tours of municipal utilities plants in Ames.
The session opened with a review of parliamentary procedures used in city council business. There were presentations on written communications, ethics for public officials and municipalities, introduction to the internet, and the roles of municipal clerks in local government. The program included a panel consisting of members of various regional clerks associations focused on helping interested clerks form associations in their areas, and a panel dealing with cutting edge issues for municipal clerks. The session also included a half-day review of the legislative objectives of the Iowa League of Cities.
Participants in session 2 will have the opportunity to attend the final session of the three-part curriculum in July 2000.
