Through 4-H, Iowa youth can become involved in many unique educational experiences that prepare them to be effective leaders, productive citizens, outstanding communicators and successful leaders. A wide spectrum of opportunities span from statewide programs, such as the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, to local summer camps and workshops in every county. One program 4-H offers to young people, Adobe Youth Voices, allows youth to build skills in technology, particularly media.

Every June, more than 1,000 teenagers converge on the Iowa State University campus for three days full of speakers, workshops, mixers, dances, a banquet and community service activities. The 2013 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, titled Unmask Your Opportunities, will begin June 25 and continue through June 27.

New Grant Expands 4-H Volunteer Efforts in Iowa

National 4-H Council has received a $500,000 gift from the Monsanto Company to drive the continued expansion of the National 4-H Volunteer Initiative. The new grant will fund several initiatives including continued outreach to attract and retain 4-H volunteers in 39 states, including Iowa.
Apply for STEM Scale-Up Programs Now

School teachers, youth organization leaders and other organizations delivering STEM educational programs can apply to bring STEM Scale-Up programs into their clubs or classrooms during 2013-14. Applications must be submitted online by Wednesday, April 10.
