ISU Extension Advances Economic Development Throughout Iowa - Region 14
AMES, Iowa -- Throughout Iowa, ISU Extension supports economic growth and works to improve quality of life by encouraging business development, helping to create jobs and expanding entrepreneurial activity, according to Jack Payne, vice president for extension and outreach.
Brian Dunn, regional extension education director in Region 14, said examples of projects that are having an economic impact in this area include helping develop an interorganizational task force to address the VA hospital closure in Knoxville .
ISU Extension also has helped Latino entrepreneurs in this southeast Iowa region by publishing a free Spanish language newsletter, Negocio Latino (Latino Business).

About six projects have been reported for four counties in ISU Extension Region 14, including the following:
- Iowa Living Roadway (ILR) Community Visioning in Monroe
- Comprehensive Plan for Prairie City
- Poweshiek Region 6 Housing Trust Fund Inc.
- Veteran’s Administration (VA) Closure Task Force
- Iowa Beef Center Risk Management – Pella Site
- Latino Business Network – Oskaloosa
