June Open House Location Features New Confinement Buildings


AMES, Iowa -- A new beef feeding facility will be the location for an open house and discussion of cattle feeder topics.

The open house is planned for June 11, 2009, from 3-6:30 p.m. at a facility owned by Arlyn Shipper of Conrad and operated by Harris Haywood of Eldora. The operation features two mono-slope bedded confinement buildings that were constructed in fall 2007.

The operation is located at 16500 270th St. Conrad – three miles south of the Highway 175 and Highway 14 intersection and one-fourth mile east, or six miles north of the Highway 14 and D67 intersection and one-fourth mile east.

The program from 3:30-5 p.m. will include speakers discussing economic impact, cattle feeding trends, environmental regulations, manure handling and value, the ethanol industry and feeding co-products. Following the discussion, a meal will be served by Hardin and Grundy County cattlemen.
